How to set up Google Home and Amazon Alexa on select Hisense TVs

Voice assistant technology was once something that only existed in movies. Now, heading into the third decade of the 21st century, it’s part of our daily lives as the presence of artificial intelligence continues to grow, with everything from TVs to refrigerators now featuring internet connectivity. If you’re the proud owner of a 2019 or 2020 Hisense TV complete with VIDAA 4, you’ll be able to use both Google Home and Amazon Alexa. 

That means owners of Q8, S8, R5, R6, R7, and R8 models will be able to use voice commands to perform a plethora of tasks, such as turning the TV on and off, changing inputs and controlling volume, to name a few. Here’s how to set up either your Google Home and Amazon Alexa:

 

Setting up Amazon Alexa on your Hisense TV 

  1. Set up a VIDAA Account 
  2. Navigate to Network Tab to connect your TV to WiFi (If you haven’t already done so). 
  3. Register your device to your VIDAA Account. 
  4. To set up Amazon Alexa Service, follow these steps: Settings > System > Voice Service > Amazon Alexa Service. Or, Settings > System > Amazon Alexa Service. NOTE: Setting varies depending on TV models and regions.  
  5. Turn on Amazon Alexa Service. 
  6. Select Amazon Alexa Service Setup > Set up now. 
  7. Visit the webpage appearing on your TV and sign in to your Amazon account. If you don’t have an account, create a new one. You will be required to sign into your VIDAA account first (if not signed in yet) before signing into Amazon account. 
  8. Give your TV a unique name. 
  9. Enter the code appearing on your TV. The code will expire after 10 minutes. After signing in, this screen will update automatically. 
  10.  Select Authorise. 
  11. Choose a language that you want to use on TV. This feature requires Alexa’s built-in service, which varies depending on TV models and regions.
  12. Amazon Alexa should now be up and running. 
  13. Pair Bluetooth Remote Control. Press and hold the MENU button. Make sure your remote is within 3 meters of the TV. Enjoy interacting with Alexa using your voice by just pressing and hold the Mic button on your Remote Control.

Setting up Google Home on your Hisense TV 

  1. Set up a VIDAA Account 
  2. Navigate to Network Tab to connect your TV to WiFi (If you haven’t already done so). 
  3. Register your device to your VIDAA Account. 
  4. To set up Google Home Service, follow these steps: Settings > System > Voice Service > Google Home Service. Or,  Settings > System > Google Home Service. NOTE: Setting varies depending on TV models and regions. Turn on Google Home Service. 
  5. Follow the instructions on TV to enable Google Smart Home Service. You will be required to sign into VIDAA account first if not signed in yet.
  6. Google Smart Home Service should now be up and running, which means you should be able to control your smart TV using voice commands.
