The most exciting tech and innovations from CES 2020

CES 2020 has wrapped for another year and left us marvelling at all the amazing consumer tech products that are set to launch this year – and in years to come.
Although the end of another CES makes the tech geek in all of us quite sad, there were so many highlights that got us super excited for what’s to come in the world of tech.
Throughout the week, more than 100,000 people flocked to Las Vegas to see the latest and greatest consumer tech products. As always, Hisense had the ever-reliable Trevor Long from EFTM and Stephen Fenech from Tech Guide Australia on the ground, taking it all in and doing some trendspotting.
Here are some of our highlights from the week.

Quite often, those with hearing loss can feel self-conscious about wearing traditional hearing aids. The Olive Union Smart Ear is a hearing aid designed like a wireless earbud and aims to help reduce the stigma that can come from wearing a typical hearing device. And better yet, it’s more affordable than a regular hearing aid, and it offers premium features like music-streaming and hands-free calling.

Weber is a brand that needs no introduction in Australia. And if ever there was a smart home product tailor-made for Australians, it’s this one. Weber’s Smart Grilling Hub brings the connected home to your backyard with some nifty tech that makes upgrading your existing grill very worthwhile. With four temperature sensors that feed data back to an app on your phone, you can check the ambient temperature of your grill, as well as the different meats you’re cooking. The Weber Smart Grilling Hub makes the art of grilling a whole lot easier.

If you like a home-cooked meal but you’re hopeless in the kitchen, Julia is a robot chef who can cook, chop, mix, blend, knead, weigh, whisk – you name it. Julia comes with an app preloaded with loads of recipes. All you have to do is follow Julia’s instructions and prepare the ingredients and this magic machine does the rest. Technology is a wonderful thing, especially when it’s used for good to solve problems that can have negative effects on people. Abeye’s Lexilens reading aid eyewear for dyslexics is a game-changing piece of smart tech. The Abeye Lexilens uses specially designed electronic lenses to help filter out the mirrored images dyslexics see while reading. The result is instantaneous, and it works regardless of language, and without any required training. How good is that?
